Florida Marlins - Fantasy Baseball Preview
Entering the 2009 season with an extremely young and talented team, the Florida Marlins seem to be the perfect picking ground for fantasy baseball keeper league teams this year. Proven fantasy stars Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla will lead the way, while young prospects including Cameron Maybin, Chris Volstad, Andrew Miller, Dallas McPherson and Josh Johnson will be looking for breakout seasons in 2009.
Top 10 Florida Marlins - 2009 Fantasy Baseball Rankings
#1 - Hanley Ramirez - SS
As a premiere fantasy baseball shortstop, Ramirez will be drafted in the top 5 overall picks to begin the 2009 fantasy baseball season, with a #1 pick extremely possible in numerous leagues. If a move to the 3rd spot in the batting order happens, then be prepared for an increase in RBI and a decrease in stolen bases for the 2009 season.
2009 Projections: 110 runs scored, 30 homeruns, 30 stolen bases, 90 rbi, .300 batting average
#2 - Dan Uggla - 2B
No longer an unknown, Uggla can be counted on to produce good power numbers in homeruns and RBI, but his batting average will just simply be average. A top 8 overall ranking as a second basemen is a good place to draft Uggla for the 2009 season.
2009 Projections: 100 runs scored, 25 homeruns, 90 rbi, 5 stolen bases, .270 batting average
#3 - Jorge Cantu - 3B/1B
Qualifying as both a third basemen and first basemen, Cantu holds very good value in fantasy baseball leagues entering the 2009 season. Just remember that it wasn’t too long ago Cantu was coming off of another 20 homerun season only to disappoint greatly the following year. Make sure you don’t draft him too high, or without a backup option.
2009 Projections: 80 runs scored, 25 homeruns, 90 rbi, 5 stolen bases, .275 batting average
