Published by hawk32 at 10:30 pm under Fantasy Baseball, Philadelphia Phillies Edit This

The World Champion Phillies will be entering the 2009 season primed for a return trip to the World Series. Led by outstanding star power and exceptional fantasy baseball players including Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge, fantasy baseball teams should find no problem utilizing these guys in their everyday lineups. Now add Shane Victorino to the list, and you have six Philadelphia Phillies ranked in the top 80 fantasy baseball players to begin the 2009 season.

Top 10 Philadelphia Phillies - 2009 Fantasy Baseball Rankings

#1 - Chase Utley - 2B

Chase UtleyEven with his recent injury, Utley is a fantasy baseball god at the second base position. A top 10 overall fantasy baseball ranking is a good place to draft Utley, as he will battle Ian Kinsler for the #1 overall second basemen ranking to begin the 2009 season.

2009 Projections: 110 runs scored, 20 homeruns, 10 stolen bases, 100 rbi, .300 batting average

#2 - Ryan Howard - 1B

Throw out the batting average, and Howard is close to being the #1 overall fantasy baseball pick to begin the 2009 season. However since his batting average does unfortunately count in many fantasy baseball leagues, Howard deserves a ranking as a top 15 overall fantasy baseball pick, and he will be in contention for the #3 overall first basemen ranking with Mark Teixeira behind Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera.

2009 Projections: 100 run scored, 45 homeruns, 130 rbi, .265 batting average

#3 - Jimmy Rollins - SS

After his 2007 MVP campaign, Rollins disappointed many fantasy baseball teams in 2008. However assuming Rollins can stay healthy the entire year, he could be in store for another excellent year of 20 homeruns and 40 stolen bases. Rollins is worthy of a top 15 overall fantasy baseball ranking and top 3 overall shortstop ranking behind Hanley Ramirez and Jose Reyes to begin the 2009 season.

2009 Projections: 120 runs scored, 15 homeruns, 40 stolen bases, 70 rbi, .285 batting average

Other Notables:

#4 - Cole Hamels - SP

#5 - Brad Lidge - RP

#6 - Shane Victorino - OF
